Hey: If you found this page, good on you. Chances are you’re here because you are going/went to the 2017 Mike Errico Holiday Show and might have some footage of the day/evening to share. Nice work! I had an idea… I’d like to see if we can compile ALL of our footage, and create something cool out of it. So, here’s what to do: – Have fun at the show – Take whatever photos, video, etc. Pre-game. Post-game — you call it. – Take the footage and GO HERE. (It’s a simple Dropbox folder, FYI.) – Upload what you got (I also left a couple gifts for you to take…examples of the kind of thing we can end up with – shh) – Let’s see what happens! CREDIT: You can title the content you upload in the filename so I’ll know who to thank at the end of whatever gets made. You’ll be able to see what happens at #holidayomens Could this go wrong? Everything, potentially, can go wrong. Can it go right? Not to sound like a yogi or anything, but it can’t go right unless it actually GOES. Real talk, people. SO, AGAIN: THAT URL IS HERE. Take shots. Upload. Let’s see what happens! Thanks for playing...

Mike Errico on the BBC

Mike Errico on the BBC

Good times w/ The BBC (@bbcnews) discussing why we don’t have long song intros like “Hotel California” anymore, but we do have 8-hour-long compositions you’re meant to sleep through. Confusing times, these. I’m trying to make sense of it myself. “No one does rumpled like you, Errico…” — a friend. I don’t think I look rumpled. Do I? The ‘no tie’ was a choice, and a recommendation, and I think it was a good call. No? I sat in a room in NY while this was going on in the UK. I’d never done that before. Very disembodied. Very Max Headroom. Since I was alone, had to take a selfie in the monitor. Probably could have looked at the monitor, too. Now it looks like I’m checking my Instagram. All rumpled. (See above.) Anyway, it was cool. Thanks to the BBC for calling me. (They really did call me. I know. I was surprised, too.) I hope I shed some light on what is basically a totally open-ended future. For those unaware of my teaching side, here’s the spiel from NYU: New York-based musician, writer, and lecturing professor, Mike Errico has built his name on the strength of critically acclaimed releases and extensive composition for film and TV. He has taught songwriting at Yale and Wesleyan universities, and speaks about the art and business of songwriting at colleges, high schools, and conferences across the country. Live, Errico has toured the country for over a decade, playing major music festivals and sharing stages with artists including Raul Midon, Jonny Lang, Soulive, Bob Weir, Amos Lee, Ben Folds, Dan Wilson, Derek...

Holiday Show Announced / Update From The Studio

THE MIKE ERRICO HOLIDAY SHOW Friday, December 9, 7:00p Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 196 Allen St., NYC Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:00 PM Featuring new songs from the upcoming album, strange and beautiful surprises, rural synthesizers, and your 2017 HOLIDAY OMENS. What are Holiday Omens, you ask? Oh, you will know. PURCHASE TICKETS HERE   UPDATE FROM THE STUDIO: So, here’s what’s happening. I was planning on recording a five-song EP, but it was going so well that I crashed through the DEAD END sign and kept on driving. It’s now going to be a full-length album, and it’s going to be a killer. Producer Jamie Siegel (Sting, Lauryn Hill, Taking Back Sunday) and I are letting the songs tell us where they want to go, and we’re consistently amazed by what is coming out. I’ll admit, it hurts a little to think it’s going to take more time to get this new music to you, but the end result is going to be twice the size, so I’m just going to stay focused and keep working. Last week’s studio highlight is that I got a bunch of friends and former songwriting students to come in and sing a “gang vocal” for a drinking song/existential crisis called “Here’s to the End of the World,” which I think will close the album. I’m posting video clips and pictures of all the sessions on Instagram – check em out, and let me know what you think. HERE ARE TWO QUESTIONS FOR YOU QUESTION #1: After the record is done, what format(s) do you want it to be in? CD? Vinyl? Thumb drive? Cassette...
