Springtime

Still entwined in your arms, barely reaching
the alarm I feel the breeze, slow and smooth,
and it moves my hand like a lazy raft in an
empty Southern California swimming pool

The day clocks in late, takes the keys from
the moon, kicks up its feet and falls asleep,
and I’m guessing it’s a Wednesday,
like it matters anyway

Springtime, creeps through the blinds, you
open your eyes. Springtime, the sun shines

The birds have returned. They got stickers on
their suitcases and pictures of the big vacation,
and I wonder what you’ve dreamed that makes
you smile that way at me

I am drifting, drifting over you.

I don’t care what you got to do today,
I got something better for you anyway.
I got something that’ll make you wanna stay.

I am drifting, drifting over you.

Still entwined in your arms, barely reaching
the alarm I feel the breeze, slow and smooth
