Thanks for Downloading “You Could Be Anywhere”/ Tell Us Why on the Podcast

Wow. What a week. I want to thank you for downloading “You Could Be Anywhere” for free on Bandcamp – it’s a special song for me, and it’s great to see it being appreciated. A lot of people have been checking the song out since it’s been on MTV’s “Teen Mom” – some are using it at memorial services and telling us how it captures their feelings about losing/being apart from someone special. I would like to dedicate an episode of my podcast to these stories, and I’d love you to contribute. You can remain confidential if you like, or give information like: name, location, who he/she may have left behind, or even where to send wishes or contributions on behalf of someone lost. You can send written responses to info@errico.com, or if you just want to record your remembrance into your phone, you can send us the file, and we’ll include it in the podcast. Thanks again, I’m so glad you find the song important, too....

PLAYBACK Magazine Feature: Mike Errico

PLAYBACK Magazine Feature: Mike Errico

Although his excellent new album is called Wander Away, Mike Errico is focused on his fans and his future. By Harris Decker PLAYBACK Magazine In an era when texting, tweeting, talking and walking happens all at once, no artist multitasks better than New York City-based singer-songwriter Mike Errico. Errico built his career not just in music but across a spectrum of media. He recently released the sixth album, Wander Away, a mark of his ability to change with the times and keep things moving. Errico has become known in the industry as a reliable creator of great music, and of projects large and small. He attributes his reputation to his albums, which he puts out consistently. But like many artists today, Errico spent time in other fields before becoming a full-time musician. While running the website of Blender magazine, he interviewed and learned from some of rock and roll’s biggest names. “I drank a bottle of Jack Daniels with David Lee Roth and had a fantastic conversation about feminism with Gene Simmons,” he said. After leaving Blender, he had a short stint at a failed music downloading startup. This might have shaken some, but for Mike it was perfect timing. “It went under just in time for me to release my next record and go on the road,” he said. Touring is a way of making a living for Errico, who travels with Rusted Root and Soulive. But he puts just as much effort into his other projects, which include theme songs for former VH1 shows like Pop Up Video, as well as current shows like American Pickers and...

Free Father’s Day Download: Me and My Dad, “Wish You Well”

The longer story around this recording is available on Episode 5 of the podcast, but you can grab just the song, here. This was recorded in Sprague Hall, New Haven, CT, June 4th, 2011. It’s an amazing room (you can hear its size in the recording), and dad was loving the nine-foot Steinway. My dad is scheduled to join me at the Living Room on 7/14, which should be a lot of fun. (He knows “Everybody Knows,” too.) I thought it appropriate for Father’s Day. Enjoy.
